The Champagne House Ch. & A. Prieur

Jean-Louis Prieur founded a Champagne House in Vertus, the first in this village at the heart of the famous Côte des Blancs. He named it CH. & A. PRIEUR as a tribute to his sons Charles and Alphrède.

Charles and Alphrède Prieur took over the family business and dug two floors of cellars, 16 metres into the chalk soil.

CH. & A. PRIEUR was a reference in its field at the time when the foundations for the offical Champagne Appellation were being laid, and was a founding member of the Union of Grand Champagne Brands (Syndicat des Grandes Marques de Champagne).

Thanks to the dynamic energy of Charles and Alphrède and the quality of their wines, CH. & A. PRIEUR Champagnes enjoyed fantastic success and were exported to several countries around the world.

CH. & A. PRIEUR became the property of winemakers in Vertus. Enterprising and driven by their passion for Champagne, they perpetuated the House’s style combining tradition, excellence and a modern approach.
